Foundation of the Jamath
1993
The journey began when founders Dr. H.S. Shiek Ibrahim, Mr. Soahbudeen, Mr. Meeran Mohideen, and Mr. Saikath Mohideen, along with 5 dedicated individuals, formed the "Keelkattalai Muslim Jamath." Their sole objective was to establish a masjid for the Muslim population of Keelkattalai.
Land Acquisition & First Building
1995
In 1995, 2475 sqft of land was purchased through funds collected specifically by the founders. A 900 sqft pukka building was inaugurated, establishing a formal place for the community to observe the five daily prayers.
Naming as Jamia Masjid
2005
While Jummah and Eid prayers had been conducted for years, the masjid was formally named "Jamia Masjid" in 2005 by the founders. The community continued to grow through the collective efforts and contributions (Chanda) of its members.
Trust Formation & Wakf Registration
Current Governance
To ensure long-term stability and legal protection of the masjid assets, the Keelkattalai Muslim Jamath Trust was established. The masjid is officially registered with the Tamil Nadu Wakf Board (Reg. No.: 264/2022), providing a transparent and structured framework for management.
